1. What is “Presence”?

Presence is the instantaneous knowledge that someone is available, online and reachable via instant messaging. PresenceWorks enables this knowledge to be embedded into any application.

When people turn on their instant messengers, presence is made available to others in the form of a buddy list. But buddy lists are limited to a maximum of one hundred and fifty names. Worse, buddy lists only display screen names – confusing little codes not necessarily associated with the individual online. In addition, the buddy list doesn’t display any contact information you’ve accumulated about a given person.

With PresenceWorks, businesses are no longer limited to buddy lists -- the presence information of unlimited business contacts can be displayed right within your company's software, along with all the contact data you already possess. With this capability, you can automatically tailor your messages to your customers, constituents or clients at the very moment they are available and receptive.

2. What is Instant Messaging?

INSTANT MESSAGING...

  • involves short text messages that pop-up immediately, enabling chat sessions where people type back and forth.
  • displays when contacts are online and available. This feature is called Presence and is shown as a list of names in the Buddy List.
  • provides Buddy Lists which hold 100 or so contacts.
  • can be chosen and installed by each user
  • was popularized by teens, but is now found in most businesses
  • the instant messengers most people use are: AOL, MSN, and ICQ

But,

  • There is no software written enabling businesses to incorporate instant messaging into their software or websites… until now. Click here to see how we do it.
