PRESENCEWORKS RAISES $1.2 MILLION IN ANGEL ROUND

Alexandria, VA (Nov. 6, 2000)-PresenceWorks, which develops and licenses instant messaging technology for businesses, raised $1.2 million in a second round of angel investment.

Individual investors include Mark Warner, founder of Nextel and partner with Columbia Capital; Ray Smith, recent chairman and CEO of Bell Atlantic and Founder & Principal, Arlington Capital; Cal Simmons, Managing Director, ASAP Ventures; Mark Kington and Karl Khoury, partners at Columbia Capital; Sanders Partee, CEO of ViewGate Networks; Yves-Andre Istel, Vice Chairman, Rothschild N.A.; Larry Roshfeld, SVP, Aether Systems; and John Durrett, Director, McKinsey & Co., among others.

PresenceWorks is first-to-market with instant messaging technology that lets businesses see which of their contacts are online and available to conduct business via the major instant messaging services of AOL, ICQ, Yahoo! and Microsoft. The technology is scaled for business use, integrates easily into businesses' existing applications and includes communications tools.

PresenceWorks is revenue-positive. Its first licensee is a $500 million computer chip broker that is using the technology to see which of its 30,000 buyers and sellers are online at any given moment, and to shorten transaction cycles.
